Tutorial: Make AirBnb style animated icons in Chat GPT + Kling AI

Copy and paste the ChatGPT prompt in this e-mail and add your own website url to get jaw-dropping icons on-brand, in seconds!

Last week AirBnB dropped an all new app and some great new features—but everyone had one question on their mind…

“How did they create those new icons?”

I can’t believe this was actually our version of “back in the day” LOL but we all remember when Apple had a similar design-style for the original iOS.

We call this Skeuomorphic design; and just like fashion, design trends are cyclical too.

I digress.

Creating these icons in the “olden days” would take a tonne of sketches, wireframes, 10 person (minimum) meetings, clunky Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop software, and that’s just to get started.

Now, you can bin all of that, and make something beautiful, clean and resemblant of AirBnB’s icons with a simple ChatGPT prompt:

I want to create a set of 3D-style icons to represent the key categories or features on my website. These icons should look like high-quality emojis — clean, playful, realistic, and shaded — with no text, on a white background.

Here’s my website: [PASTE YOUR WEBSITE URL HERE]

Please analyze the site and suggest 10 custom icon ideas that fit my brand. For each one, include:

- A concept for the visual icon (e.g. chef hat, sizzling frying pan, twirling fork of noodles)

- A sound effect that could accompany it (e.g. sizzle, sparkle, chop)

- A movement or animation suggestion (e.g. steam rising, subtle rotation, gentle bounce)

Make sure the icons are simple, bold, and visually engaging — the kind of thing that would look great in a mobile interface or web navigation, with potential for sound and hover animation.

Once I pick one, I’ll ask you to generate it in that style: clean, text-free, emoji-like with depth and soft lighting.

✨ Pro Tip: Use ChatGPT 4o Model and make sure the “Search” feature is switched on so that when you enter your website URL in the prompt above, it will scan your site and suggest icons perfect for your brand.

I messed around with some ideas for Guilty Chef and I was pretty amazed at how quickly and spot-on the visuals came out.

But hey, that’s just the start…
